Lucky Star
Lucky Star is a project in collaboration with Lupo Group USA which is currently nearing completion of construction. It is an intimate and cozy bar concept located in the lobby of the Star Metals Building in Atlanta, GA.
The design of the bar incorporates a lower counter at 34 inches instead of the typical bar height which affords a stronger connection to the bartender as a key element of the experience.
A Soft Palette
The finishes selected create a sense of soft and inviting lounge zones mixed with a refined textural backdrop of wood and quartz at the bar. The bar finishes are more robust for scuffs, wear and tear, while the seating is plush with textured boucle fabrics. The combined muted yet sumptuous palette creates a backdrop for the true star of the show: cocktails and mixed drinks crafted with a careful hand.
A key element of the design is a back-lit back bar display system which anchors the space while showcasing different selections for tasting. The delicate metalwork and glass of the display shelves
Floating Planes
To communicate a design intent of a floating, monolithic plane, there are multiple design considerations we have to address. First and foremost, it will need to have structure and depth to connect back to the structure above. Creating an illusion of any floating mass requires setting the structure back so it can cantilever into space where we perceive it from below as a floating object.
Studying this bulkhead in section, plan and reflected ceiling plan as well as in 3D views creates a united look and feel while still designing something which, most critically, can actually be built.
We are so excited to see this project wrapping, and are looking forward to sharing photos of the completed space soon as well!
